The beaches and things to do

Formentera's additional delight, is its famously awarded beaches and our retreat sits on one of the islands favorite, Playa Mitjorn, a 6km sweeping crescent of powder white sand lapped by turquoise waters. Voted the cleanest waters in the Balearics, the sand is usually quiet, and not unusually empty.

Think Eva Cassidy singing ‘It's a wonderful world', laying on a bed on a deserted beach perusing vintage vogue magazines.

With snowy sands and crystal blue water that stays warm most of the year, Formentera's coastline is like a wide-open Caribbean shore dropped into the middle of the Mediterranean .

If you should wish to visit some of the other beaches it is very cheap (if you share) to get a taxi or bike and check out:

~ Cala Sahona – West Coast, beautiful secluded cove.

~ Playa Illetas – North Pennisula , kms of white puff sand.

~ Playa Llevant – North Penisula, like the Caribbean .

~  Playa Mitjorn - This being on your doorstep sweeping around a 6km crescent to the South, so sunrise/set walks are a memory must do.

~  Espalmador – Uninhabited island off the North shore. A wade through shallow waters at low tide is rewarded by a soak in two natural mud baths.

Buffeted by the cool, dry tramontana wind from the North & hot gusts from Africa , Formentera Yoga is the newest Balearic yoga hotspot.

Entertainment

There isn't any! This is not an entertainment centre and if you wish to seek this then feel free to do so under your own organization. This is a great opportunity for you to rest in the tranquility of nature and fully re-charge your immune system. We suggest you take this opportunity with an open heart, and then perhaps you may discover something new within yourself.

When I made the crossing in the 30min, modern, fast ferry, I found a mellow bunch of cyclists, hippies, birdwatchers, naturists and sunseekers.
